Spector Detection Page
This page is dedicated to detecting Spector from SpectorSoft.
How does it work?
- Open this page
- Keep it open in your browser for at least 20 seconds
- If you suddenly get an error in "kernel32.dll", you have Spector running.
Why does it work?
Have a look at the title of this page...
The current version of Spector has special routines in it that attack any window
that has "X-Cleaner -" in its title and generates an error, making it seem that
X-Cleaner is at fault. If you look closely, you will see that the error box is
slightly different from "real" Windows' errors.
I'm infected with Spector! What do I do now?
- When you see the Error Box, keep it open. Don't click it!
- Open X-Cleaner Deluxe
- Start a cleaning immediately.
- When X-Cleaner asks you to reboot, click the Error box.
- Then click "Yes" on the reboot question.
- After rebooting, try this procedure again to make sure it worked.
If you have any problems with this, contact support.
Otherwise, you can go back to the main page.
