Spyware Hit Count

Many people ask us if there is really that much spyware and adware on the market today. To put the question into historical perspective when X-Cleaner first started fighting spyware almost three years ago the list was very small, no more then six or seven programs. Now it has grown to large list and continues to mushroom on a monthly basis- there is a steady glut of spyware, malware and adware hitting the market literally in waves. This is not counting the number of variants we see spyware vendors who often produce multiple products using one or similar technologies.

From January 01, 2002 as of today ( 04-07-2009) X-Cleaner has detected and eliminated over 25,857,494 instances of adwares and spyware installations.

This number only reflects the counts from people who have anonymously volunteered to send us their cleaning statistics on spyware detection and extraction. After spyware is detected X-Cleaner provides users an anonymous option to send this data to our servers so that we can analyze spyware growth trends.

In reality the total hit count of spywares detected and eliminated is likely much, much higher.

Note: This list is only temporary and grows regularly. This list includes, but does not mention by name, common spyware derivative works. Team X-Cleaner continually updates detection routines to thwart spy evasion tactics. Spy evasion occurs when spy ware makers attempt to attack X-Cleaner, or stop the detection process.
